Camille Naluai Rios: To the Heart of the Matter
The concept of home ownership sits close to the heart of Camille Naluai Rios. Not only does she come from a family of REALTORS®, but she remembers what it was like to move around a lot as a kid. By the time she was seven years old, she was so tired of moving – having to leave her home, her friends and her life so often – that she would have given anything and everything for her family to have their own house. And she did.
“When I was about 7 years old, I won a contest and received a GIANT amount of money – $20. It was the largest sum of money I had ever received in my entire life. It felt like a gamechanger to me at the time. I imagined all the candy I could buy with that $20 but what I really wanted was a home of our own. I knew we would be moving again soon, so I gave all twenty dollars to my father and asked him to use that money as a down payment on a house,” Camille recalled.
Crafting the Perfect Journey in Buying or Selling Hawaii Real Estate
Camille’s family ended up buying the very home they were renting at the time and they were able to grow roots, make lifelong friends, and memories that she cherishes to this day. “It changed our lives,” she said. “Being able to do the same thing for my clients is what drives me in real estate today.”
Camille loved her childhood in Maunalua. She played sports and was very athletic. She enjoyed team sports, having the ability to support her teammates while pursuing personal excellence. After graduating from University of Hawaii in 2001 with a degree in journalism, she began a career working in TV news. Realizing it was not the right path for her, she decided to enter the “family business” and get her real estate license not too long after.
Camille started her real estate career with Century 21 in 2002. About three years later, her mother opened Faith Naluai Realty, where Camille has been an independent agent and property manager for the past 17 years. Camille credits her mother for instilling in her her most defining quality: “I have always been a doer,” she said. “My mom taught me when things get tough, you work through them. Worrying about them and procrastinating never helps.”
And that is how Camille has approached her business. Her clients know that they can count on her and her knowledge of real estate, property management, and the surrounding area to get things done. Camille married her high school sweetheart and had three kids. Her oldest child is a sophomore at UH Manoa and is studying business. Her oldest son is graduating high school and will be pursuing computer science. And her youngest is a talented swimmer and continues to do well in school. Camille is an active member of the Campbell High School PTO and is a big believer in supporting public schools and helping staff students be successful. She is also a member of the Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce. When Camille is looking to relax, she retreats to the beach and the water. She lives in Ewa, where she enjoys campfires on the beach with s’mores and surfing.
As Camille continues growing her business, she remains driven to help as many people as she can to plant roots, settle into a community and create a better life for themselves and their family for generations to come. And that will always be at the heart of what she does.
